727183 CONDAMINE CLASSIC POSTER 6 smallThe SuperCool Competitions Department competed in the  Inaugural 2026 Condamine Classic held at Morgan Park Raceway 11-12 April 2026.

This was the first meeting for our newly restored Yamaha TD3 and the second for our AS3-GYT 125. We entered the Period 4 classes for  ultra-lightweight 125cc and lightweight 250cc machines.

Ultra-lightweight class

The weather conditions were excellent with fairly stable temperature and humidity over the two days . This time we had the added advantage of using our new Relative Air Density (RAD) meter to properly measure the quality of air in our carburetors. The RAD measured over to days ranged for 87.60 – 91.60%. We estimated this would require a slightly richer main jet setting than the last meeting in September, so we stepped up a size from #200 to #210. This resulted in almost perfect max EGT readings all weekend in the range of 1025-1072 degrees.

The bike was strong on the track, and Max was becoming far more familiar with it in each lap despite quite poor dampening/preload performance from the rear shocks, which we will replace before the next meeting. Max’s lap times reduced gradually between all four races from 01:56:79 to 01:48:80. We won all four races to take the class win.

Lightweight class

In the previous weeks of testing the TD3 for the first time we had struggled with unbalanced carburetors and rich mixture behavior. The bike would start and idle satisfactorily but would run erratically with poor power delivery on half and full throttle. This resulted in a complete overhaul of the carburetors a week before the meeting. We fitted new slides (#3 size), new emulsion tubes and needles and main jets (#340 size). This improved things dramatically, but we still had an issue with an unsmooth engine at mid and full throttle, and we were still conscious of the fact that we were still running in the new engine, so Max was being over aggressive with the throttle. Therefore, we estimated our mixture may be still too rich, despite the EGT readings being in the range of 1013-1018, so after qualifying we dropped the slide needle down another position to slot 2. This improved the throttle response in race 2 , and in race 3 we decided to run the race with hot plugs.

In the last two laps of race 3, the engine was smoothing out and coming onto the power band much more quickly. The maximum EGT levels were 1210-1211.

Our results were fifth in race 1, DNS in race 2, fourth in race 3, and second in race 4. This gave us 4 overall in the class.
